At The Shift Chiropractic, we understand that children have unique spinal health needs. From birth through adolescence, your child's body is developing and growing rapidly. Pediatric visits check how your child’s spine and joints are moving as they grow, with care adapted to their size and stage.
Our approach to kid chiropractic is gentle, compassionate, and specifically tailored to children's bodies. We use age-appropriate techniques and create a welcoming, comfortable environment where children feel safe and supported. Parents bring kids in after a sports strain or a fall, for neck and back aches, or for periodic check-ups as they grow.
Led by Dr. Ben Glass, D.C. and Dr. Irina Velichko, D.C., we've cared for families throughout Oakland and the East Bay.
For newborns, we offer gentle cranial care that supports your family’s tongue-tie care team: your pediatrician, a dentist or ENT, and a lactation consultant. We don’t diagnose, release or treat tongue-tie, and we don’t promise changes in feeding or breastfeeding.
We’ll tell you what we find and what we’d suggest, and if something needs a pediatrician or another kind of care instead, we’ll say so.
Soccer, basketball, skateboarding, gymnastics: young athletes come in after sprains, strains and knocks. We check how the joint and the spine are moving and give them a short list of things to work on.
Screens, desks and heavy backpacks all change how kids sit and carry themselves. We look at how your child moves and suggest practical habits for home and school.
Kids fall a lot. After a tumble, we check how the spine and joints are moving and tell you plainly whether anything needs attention, from us or from their pediatrician.
Growth spurts and busy schedules can leave kids stiff or sore. Care is gentle and adapted to your child’s size.
Some headaches start in the neck and upper back. We check how those areas move, and if a headache needs a pediatrician’s attention, we’ll say so.
Some families bring their kids in for periodic check-ups of how they’re moving as they grow.
Gentle Techniques: We use gentle, age-appropriate adjustment techniques designed specifically for children's developing bodies. Our methods are gentle and adapted to your child’s age and size.
Comfort & Trust: We create a welcoming, non-threatening environment where children feel comfortable and safe. We take time to explain what we're doing in language kids understand.
Parent Education: We partner with parents to support your child's health at home. We provide guidance on posture, ergonomics, stretches, and activities that support spinal health.
Safety First: All adjustments are tailored to your child's age, size, and condition. We never use force or pressure that could be harmful. Your child's safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Yes. Both doctors see babies. For newborns, we offer gentle cranial care that supports your family’s tongue-tie care team: your pediatrician, a dentist or ENT, and a lactation consultant. We don’t diagnose, release or treat tongue-tie, and we don’t promise changes in feeding or breastfeeding.
We ask you about your child’s history and what you’ve noticed, then check how their spine and joints are moving, with care adapted to their size and stage. We explain what we find and what we suggest before anything starts, and if something needs a pediatrician or another kind of care instead, we say so.
If your child has a fever, a head injury, new numbness or weakness, or pain that wakes them at night, see your pediatrician first. After a fall, we check how the spine and joints are moving and tell you plainly whether anything needs attention from your pediatrician.
Yes. Spoken care is available in Spanish with Dr. Ben and in Russian with Dr. Irina, as well as in English with both.
Dr. Irina is in until 6:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Dr. Ben until 6:15 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Dr. Ben is also in every Saturday from 7:30 am to 1 pm. Same-day appointments are often available — a doctor is in the office six days a week.
The same as for adults. As of October 2026, a first visit is $135. It includes the exam, your child’s first adjustment and a follow-up report-of-findings visit; an adjustment at that follow-up visit is billed separately. Visits after that are $60–$80, depending on whether you’re on a care plan or paying per visit. Confirm current prices when you book. We don’t bill insurance directly; HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and payment plans are available.
